[Atmob-discuss] Glaring Rocket Launch Could Surprise East Coast Residents Tuesday Evening

John,
Several of us have seen launches from Wallops Is.
for Barium Ion Clouds many years ago. We watched
from the roof of Building D which used to have a
clear view to the Southwest. Not sure about now -
the CfA building might be better. Those launches
went eastward and reached an altitude of 30 to 45
degrees. A sunset launch is always spectactular
even if this one is heading away from us. Bermuda is
only 600 miles due South and I tracked several
satellites well beyond the Bahamas ( a slant range
of 3000 miles) in my 6-inch RFT on an Alt-Az mount.

  Hi,
  all,

  Apparently
there will be a rocket launch as early as Tuesday
  night from Wallops Island,
VA, that may be visible from a good part of the
  East Coast, including New
England. Joe Rao has the details in this article
  on space.com:

  http://www.space.com/spacewatch/090501-ns-rocket-launch.html

  It
would be interesting to know if anyone sees it.
