Subject: NH House Adopts Dark Sky Bill

Dear Friends of Dark Skies,

The New Hampshire House of Representatives today adopted HB 585, the
Outdoor Lighting Efficiency aka dark skies bill by unanimous voice vote.

Having previously been approved by the Science, Technology and Energy
Committee by a 19-0 vote, the bill was placed in a privileged group of
bills -- the Consent Calendar -- which are adopted together.

The bill now goes to the Senate, for a further committee process
including a hearing some time in April.

We don't yet know which committee will handle it, but most likely it
will be the Energy, Environment and Economic Development Committee,
whose members are Senators Martha Fuller Clark (chair), Amanda Merrill
(vice-chair) Jacalyn Cilley, Bette Lasky, Bob Odell and Sharon Carson.

Thanks to all who have contributed to the success of this important
legislation so far.

As always, you can track the course of the NH dark skies bill and
similar legislation in Massachusetts through the website of the New
England Light Pollution Advisory Group (NELPAG) at www.nelpag.org

Best,

Bob Gillette
Ossipee
