Mairo,
Good job at Gloucester.
I've been involved as chair of an Acton committee on LP for the past six
years. We've been able to pass a new town bylaw in 2004.
This year, we're finally getting on the town meeting ballot for funds to
replace our old drop lens, mercury vapor streetlights with new, full cutoff
ones, which would use much more efficient metal halide or high pressure
sodium lamps.
If any members live in towns with these poor-efficiency streetlights, you
can make a case for your town to both get better fully shielded lighting
and also to save money! Write to me for more information.
I think there are a number of people in the club who are very active in LP
issues. It would be great if you'd identify yourselves so we can get you
on the NELPAG (New England Light Pollution Advisory Group) mail list.
NELPAG will have a new website soon, which should be useful for general
information and tips on how go get involved.
