Paul,
The Zone System you're referencing was created by none other than Ansel
Adams. The concepts related in Ron Wadaski's (sp) new book are not the same.
One could make some vague connection between the two but it would be a
stretch. I suspect Ron knows the original zone system and took that
knowledge into his astrophotography practice. It sure does work for him!

Now you are getting into the realm of artistic opinion and values.
I see the smoother dynamic range of the second image but find the first
image more impressive.
Is this the same Zone System that professional Robert White of Arlington
advocated about three or four decades ago ?
