With my Barska binoculars, at least, the screws adjust
the two prisms in different diagonal planes. It takes
a little getting used to how adjusting each screw
changes the relative aim of the occulars. For me the
adjustment was an iterative process of alternately
turning each screw a little. It definitely helps if
you have the immediate feedback from looking through
the binoculars at the same time as you are adjusting
each or both screws. If you aren't using a tripod and
have to take the binoculars away from your eyes each
time you want to ajust a screw it will be very
difficult to know by how much to adjust the screw if
you aren't seeing the effect of the adjustment while
you are doing it.
