[ATMoB-discuss] Unknown Near the Swan Nebula

John,
When to report, when to wait, that is the question !
I was about to ask you for RA and Dec.
Years ago, Ron Woodland was showing off one of the
Clark's ( 8-inch , I believe) at Amherst to a couple
of us ATM's.
Near Jupiter was a 'faint fuzzy'. We took note of
the position and saw that it moved very slightly.
Ron ran downstairs and got out an atlas. We saw
nothing at that position. A new Comet !!!!
Ah, then I pushed on the tube and jiggled the image.
It did a similar dance. It was a ghost image in the
antique eyepiece. 
We closed up and had a couple of beers to cry into. 
Thus is the saga that John Bortle and many others
have faced, but not David Levy. 
Keep the nose to the grindstone. You will at least
gain the smell of victory.
