Ken,Virginia, and all:
This time of year is getting impossible to schedule,
even long range. I could not make the ATS meeting
but got a lot of glass up to the Pavilion for
sorting, cataloging, and storage until next
summer. John Briggs and I loaded the trailer and 10
STM's helped with the unloading. And then there was
the full-Moon work parties at both ATmoB and
Springfield, a religious holiday for some, Fred
Ward's project. At the last ATM meeting, I
mistakenly thought they announced Fred's would be
last weekend, next is Skyscrapers, and then we are
in to October. Now Town meeting starts tomorrow and
I can't have people come over to wrap and pack. I
will probably ask some people to come over on a few
evenings. As things are packed, they can be brought
up to Westford. I have some Cervit and Zerodur set
aside and a 16-inch full thickness Pyrex. There are
hundreds of small components 1" diam. and smaller
and many are not identified as to glass type - just
the project or customer.
Thoughts currently are tending to a STM web page
listing what is available. A silent auction may be
run with payment via the STM PayPal account. That
will take a lot of effort.
I think that the STM's we will be looking for
pricing of 30% of new except for some specials such
as the 25-inch F/1.6 E-6 mirror, some of the large
crown disks, and the Pyrex disks. That is up to the
club officials.
Unmarked, finished lenses would be good for
educational programs such as OSA's "Hands-On
Optics".
