Hi Mike,

A few minutes ago I wondered how the comet would look in smaller binocs,
so I took my 8x42 and 10x32 roof prism binocs out. The comet looked nice
in the 8x42s and like a much fainter, but unmistakable, fuzzball in the
10x32s.

When a girlfriend says that something seen through a telescope looks
"cool," that's an accolade to treasure!

Hi Tal,

I observed tonight from near you in Lancaster and it does indeed look
like a dandelion -- that is exactly how I told my wife what to look for
in the binoculars. I was just using some 10x50 Pentax binoculars
handheld and it was a really nice sight. I could also pick up a layering
to the halo -- may have been an optical illusion but it certainly seemed
to be there on multiple views.

Comet Holmes is magnificent in my tripod-mounted 25x100 binoculars
tonight. The sky here in Beautiful Midtown Clinton is nice and
transparent. There were 3 stars in a line at about the 8:30 position, one
star closer to the comet at 5 o'clock, and one brighter star a little
farther away at 1 o'clock. I saw a comment last night from a little girl
who said that the comet looked like the head of a dandelion, ready to
release its seeds. She nailed it perfectly!
