While you're over there, you should give a lecture
on energy waste and light pollution. Start some
consciousness raising.
Was in touch with Doug Brown - any plans for WSP
this year (2008) ? - it's a little earlier, Feb. 4
- 10th.

Donna & I are having a great vacation in Beijing.

I met the astronomy education director at the BJ
planetarium on Saturday, and he's invited me to an
observing session this week. I also made some
other contacts that may prove to be beneficial for
the 2009 eclipse trip. Fenny & I installed the 4"
mirror that I just completed into a small dob on
Saturday. First light was surprisingly good
considering the soupy polluted skies in the city.
I just dragged it outside the hotel for an early
morning (5am Sunday) view of Venus and Saturn
before it got too bright. The scope will stay here
in Fenny's charge so that I have one to use on
  subsequent trips.

I'll have some slides to show at the November
  meeting.
