.....but the web site obfuscates some very simple
principles of optics with far too many words.
Also, there are far too many options to buy at
ridiculously high prices. Who needs polished,
anodized aluminum for a tool that should only be
needed a few times a year.

Look up my article on Optical Alignment (
"Collimation" is an incorrect term only used by
amateurs and novices) in Sky & Telescope. I believe
it was in one of the 1984 issues. Also, the review
of Tectron Alignment Tools.

The animation graphics in Jim Fly's website are
'cute' but there is nothing better than viewing the
real thing. I have the feeling he is trying to tell
us everything he knows about the subject rather than
simplifying the subject for the beginner.
