I also have a 25mw Howie Glatter laser and have enjoyed using it
immensely. Howie is a great person to work with and the quality of the
lasers is unsurpassed (granted at a somewhat higher cost but you get
what you pay for). When it is this cold out (tonight 4F / -16C) you
will want to keep it in your shirt pocket when you are not actually
using it to keep it warm enough to work at full output.

Hi Bernie
I bought a 25 mw green laser from Howie Glatter and it is plenty
powerful enough to use at star parties the one he advertises in SKY &
TEL
is a <5 mw but you can call him at his advertised phone # at
718-796-3203 and tell him what you want and what you want to do with it
and he will
recommend the proper power. The things I liked most about doing business
with Howie was he is located in New York, he repairs the lasers himself
if needed and he was a great guy to talk with on the phone. I had
originally planned on going to wicked lasers. Also the 25 mw does not
drop off as you described, If you ask him about the drop off he will
explain why that happens with other green lasers.
