I included this in my Astronomy Update for this month (due to be emailed
today). It uses Orion to judge whole number magnitudes by "counting"
stars. The instructions provided are simple and complete. This will be
a great family or school activity. Kids can easily do this activity and
report their results online. They are looking for reports from March 8th
through March 21. Multiple reports are encouraged from locations more
than 1km apart. There are several paragraphs on this in the April Sky
and Telescope magazine.
