[ATMoB-discuss] Tonight's Eclipse

I was in North Carolina today. The sky was clear here and I got an excellent view of the total eclipse. When the moon rose above the tree lined horizon, it was already past the totality. So I didn't get to see the earth's shadow creeping up on moon. However, I did get to see the coppery moon and it was awesome. I also got to see the moon coming out of the eclipse.

The coppery moon did set me thinking about why does it appear so. Does any one know why does the moon appear in this specific color.

Thanks,
Kapil

I didn't even have a cloud-fuzzed look; 'twas raining lightly here in
Beautiful Midtown Clinton during the eclipse, and now that it's over the
sky is clear. The weatherman is really trying my patience! I'm going to
have to give him a stern talking-to!
