True, and that is the common sense part of scheduling before ATMoB even
agrees to assist with a star party.  You can be assured that Virgina and
any other coordinators are aware of those sorts of details before such
help is offered.  The thing is, the announcement did say that it was
open to everyone in the community...which is significantly more open
than most star parties!  So where was common sense in the initial
question?

I AM a star party volunteer, which is why I brought up the question.  I
don't want to learn after the fact that I helped some discriminatory
group.

You can be almost certain that a group at a public school does not
discriminate (but there are exceptions).
