Steve,

The club used Sonotube that had an OD of I believe 7 3/8ths or 
7 5/8ths. Most members added a layer of colored or patterned 
leatherette or Reme' that increased the diameter another 1/8th-
inch.
We used two leather straps that attached to an aluminum 
saddle at one end and a threaded brass rod on the other. These 
slipped into slotted brass brackets and tightened with a 
threaded thumbscrew or wing nuts.  
Loosening the straps a little bit allowed tube rotation to bring 
the eyepiece to a comfortable observing position, and then 
would be re-tightened. 

I doubt you will find a perfect set of clamshell rings unless you 
make or modify them yourself.

There may be a mount or pictures of one at the clubhouse that 
you could use as a guide.
