Early Saturday morning I took some CCD exposures of Comet S-W3 from Barrie Sawyer's site on Bailey Hill in Groton, NH.:

I initially targeted the brighter C and B components, and then decided to try for component G, which is much fainter. While processing the images, I noticed that my "G" exposures also captured another component--- "R"; which had been even fainter than G but must have been in the midst of a recent flare-up. Component R is barely within the upper right corner of the bottom frame on the webpage.
Many of the observers there spotted the brighter C and B components. Kevin Ackert and I also observed what we believed at the time to be component G with the 36" Dob "Godzilla"--- but after processing the images I think it's possible that we may have actually been looking at R.
