FWIW, A couple of us from ATS are looking into the Porter scope, and so far find its provenance more than a bit shakey...

It had been offered to STM several times in the past and turned down each time.

If anyone has reason to believe the story, I'd like to hear why!!

The big "Brashear" lens is in a similar boat.
