I also have a Meade Super Wedge with a 14" LX200GPS permanetly mounted on it 
and the wedge works just fine.  The wedge came with the double plate base 
that the scope bolts onto (4 bolts) and the whole wedge is bolted to a base 
of 3/4" (or perhaps 1 inch) thick aluminum plate that I had, which gives it 
some additional rigidity.  No complaints at all with the Meade Super Wedge.
