[ATMoB-discuss] Shuttle Launched tonite

We had a good crowd of members at Westford tonight to view the launch.
We watched it lift-off via the internet streaming feed then headed
outside. Fortunately the only clear area of the sky was along the path
the shuttle took. Eileen was the first to spot it. Yes, it did move
very quickly!
It was a fun time tonight.

Subject: Re: [ATMoB-discuss] Shuttle Launched tonite

At about 8:55 PM (about 8 minutes after launch) I saw what appeared to
be bright but slowly blinking spot moving west to east in the south.
The spot went behind an obstruction to the southeast before I could get
a look at it with binoculars, so I'm not sure whether the spot I saw
was the shuttle or just a regular aircraft.

Does it make sense for the shuttle to appear to blink (i.e. would at
point after launch would the shuttle be rolling in a manner that would
make it appear to blink to an observer on the ground)?
