[ATMoB-discuss] Shuttle Launch Thursday

I have seen 2 night launches and they are quite impressive. You see the main engine burn, main engine cutoff, and attitude rockets. It is initially visible low on the horizon in the South, about 6 minutes after launch, but then rises considerably in the East. Do watch the launch if you able to and if the skies are clear (it looks promising). I also recommend having an AM radio to hear the launch so that you know exactly when to look (I forget which station has it live).

Subject: [ATMoB-discuss] Shuttle Launch Thursday

It looks like there will be a night shuttle launch up the coast this Thursday night at 9:35pm. This will be the first one in quite a few years.

If you haven't seen it, I recommend it strongly. Can someone on this list describe why it's so awesome a sight? Anyway you will need a very low view of the horizon - I believe it will be about 7 degrees from the horizon and visible about 10 minutes after launch. If it looks like it might be clear and if it looks like the launch is a go I will try to post more details.
