Bruce,
You might try a large pharmacy near the hospitals, like MGH, Mt. 
Auburn, Childrens'.

I prefer the polyvinyl alcohol solution made by 
www.photoniccleaning.com  but it is
very expensive for amateurs.

What I used on the MIT 4-inch Clark Objective is  PRE_COAT 33 Blue Spray
Protective Coating in an aerosol can  from Universal Photonics, Inc.

Remember we met Maria and Tony Perrera at the bar at NEAF ?
Maria works at Universal. I believe it is about $10 per can and is
compatible with the cheesecloth method.
