Hi Folks,

Don't miss out on the worldwide star count October 20 - November 3rd, 2008. For those who have not participated before, you don't need a telescope - just go out and look up. The number of stars visible depends on the quality of the night sky. You'll learn how to measure the limiting magnitude of the night sky at your location, report the data, and help contribute to a database measuring global light pollution. This is a useful project for teaching kids and adults about the impact of artificial lighting on our environment. Help raise awareness about the decreasing quality of our night skies and the ongoing loss of our ability to study or simply enjoy the night sky. Investigate the economic and environmental impacts of light in your town!

Clear skies,
~Virginia
