[Atmob-announce] Mass Towns with LP laws

Mario,

www.dark-skies.org has the following list of towns with light pollution bylaws.  In addition to your list, dark-skies lists the Massachusetts town of Park City.  

However, I searched http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleclk/clkidx.htm for a Park City, MA, and none is listed.  Perhaps Dark Skies added a new town to MA.

  Hello all,

      Thanks to all that responded to my call for a list of cities/Towns in Mass that have light Pollution laws on the books. I have compiled what I have received so far. This will be used in lobby efforts for LP laws.
  I have copied below as an FYI to all as to what towns do have laws below thus far: If anyone knows of others, PLEASE let me know!

  1. What I find amusing is that in many cases I got e-mails stating NO laws for a town and others stating YES for the same town. As the Yes responses were accompanied by proof, that shows many of us have no knowledge of the LP ordinances already enacted in our own towns. You may want to look at this list and be surprised that your town may already have such laws.
  2. It is clear, that many towns have some ordinances, but are not enforcing unless someone complains.
  3. Towns with an activist do a better job than towns left to their own devices.
  4. Almost all the laws were enacted by the efforts of a single person who took the initiative.
  5. The ordinances range from very good to very weak.
