[Atmob-announce] scope for a good cause?

folks...

I am blown away by your generosity. and I have to say this is exactly where ATMoB's "Announce" network really shines, because I only had a couple of hours to pull this off.

as things stand, the young patient (Felipe Ramirez, from Santiago) and his mother will be attending tomorrow night's meeting. they're coming at 8 pm by taxi, so keep an eye out for them. (maybe they could use a ride home?)

hat's off to Kevin and the NSAAC for the 6-inch Dob, which I think we'd all agree is a great starter scope for trolling those Chilean skies. Kevin says the scope might need some extra padding/packaging, and we'll need a box for the base (which we'll disassemble for shipping). ideas?

hats off as well to George, Steve, Dave, Ivan, Pete Bealo, and Tony Costanzo, all of whom were willing to chip in.

if any of you have items that might complement the scope -- a planisphere (southern hemisphere!), red flashlight, etc -- maybe you could bring it along and add it to the package.
